Summer Tour / Dec 2017

We're starting this summer with a short tour to Newcastle, Wollongong, Sydney and Melbourne. The band has had a busy year, releasing and promoting our fifth album “The Vampires Meet Lionel Loueke”, touring Europe/UK, even publishing a book of our music. This album was nominated for an ARIA Award and has received critical acclaim internationally including four star reviews in Downbeat Magazine (US), The Guardian (UK) and All About Jazz, which called it “the perfect summer record”.

We will start in Newcastle on Friday 1st December, playing for the first time at The Black Malabar, then on Sunday 3rd December at the intimate and scenic Clifton School of Arts. This is followed by a night at Venue 505 in Sydney on Thursday 7th December and our first performance at Bird’s Basement in Melbourne on Saturday 16th December.

For the Melbourne gig we are very lucky to have Shannon Barnett joining us on trombone, she played on our first three albums (South Coasting, Chellowdene, Garfish) and this is the first time in a few years we will be playing with Shannon because she has been living overseas.

The Band

Nick Garbett (trumpet), Jeremy Rose (alto, tenor saxophones, bass clarinet), Ben Hauptmann (acoustic and electric guitar), Jonathan Zwartz (double bass), Alex Masso (drums).

(Melbourne only: Shannon Barnett, trombone)
